Barton Rovers suffered a 1-2 defeat to Thame United this Saturday in their last league fixture of the season, Barton will now have to play against a step-5 side in a play-off game next weekend which will determine their league status for next season.
Kicking off the game, Rovers had the first chance as Keeley got in behind the Thame defence early on a put a great ball across the box, however, Thame cleared their lines and any danger. Rovers had a penalty call within the first quarter of an hour as Adeyileka was taken down in the Thame area. Although Barton had the first chances, Thame took the lead in the sixteenth minute through Hackett after he was played through by Pearce.
United doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time after Hackett took the corner quickly to Peake-Pijen and fired his shot into the bottom corner, meaning Rovers went into the break two behind.
Joseph, Boffah and Gauthier were introduced into the game in the second half as Adeyileka, Ryan and Mckenzie-Lowe made way. Rovers' only goal of the game came just nine minutes from time when Joe Sutton converted from the spot after Keeley won a penalty.
After conceding, Thame almost added a third when Ngathe put his strike wide after pouncing on Andrew's mistake. In the five, Rovers went all out in the search for an equaliser and came close on two occasions as Racine and Wilkes put efforts over the bar just before full time but it finished 1-2 and the visitors took 3 points on their final league game.
