Rovers return to league action after a month was one to forget as they were beaten 0-3 by the leagues new boys Stotfold.
Starting the game, Rovers had the first chance as they came close after a scuffle in the Stotfold area. However, they never seemed to get out of first gear in the game and it was Stotfold who dominated the tie.
Stotfolds first chance came in the fifteenth minute as their striker headed just over the bar. They went for goal again in the eighteenth minute as they forced Rovers debutant keeper Saunders into a near post save before they blasted their rebound over the bar.
Although Stotfold looked the more likely to score, Rovers had their chances in a dull first forty-five minutes as Rider and Rhiney had chances go astray. The deadlock was broken by the visitors on the stroke of half-time when Daniel Snee slotted home his effort.
The second half was a similar affair to the first as there were chances all half from both sides but only Stotfold could capitalise and late on again. The Fold scored their second in the eightieth minute when Franklin put his effort past Saunders.
The third came with some controversy as Rovers keeper Saunders appeared to have two hands on the ball before it was kicked out of his grasp before he touched it into the back of the net to make it three-nil with five to go.
